Investing in the next generation

Various alum work at Healthpartners currently earning a living wage starting as 30k Tech geek interns at ages as early at 15 years old helping families to fight poverty.

30,000 Feet provides in-schools residencies with a range of services—from co-teaching in classrooms with educators and professional artists, to culturally relevant social justice driven art classes. 30,000 Feet also offers residences and support for African American students after school, during the summer, and in times when a student is suspended or experiencing homelessness.

With Ramsey County JDAI, 30,000 Feet works to reduce recidivism and disrupt poverty by providing a Tech Geeks apprenticeship for at-risk youth. This apprenticeship teaches computer coding and app-building skills that equip youth for work in the tech field. Over 75% of students get off probation while participating in the Tech Geeks intervention program.

In partnership with over 46 libraries, 30,000 Feet offers arts, history, and social justice workshops to help African American youth feel a meaningful sense of belonging and connection to their community. In each workshop, students and families of all ages experience history, cultural heritage, and social justice while developing hands-on art skills.

30,000 Feet works with the Science Museum of Minnesota to build STEAM projects centered around social justice, providing a meaningful pathway for students into STEAM fields.
